Also, I can remember only the vaguest fragments at the point which suggests that the novel was ultimately incredibly forgettable. Also, I've never been a fan of the revolt against the alien type SF novel.... I've read...This seems like a intriguing novel. I've read little of Budrys' work after I suffered through the immensely disappointing The Falling Torch (1959).
